Based on the love story between David Bailey and Jean Shrimpton, 'We'll Take Manhattan' was everything i thought it would be. He was a fox, she was a beautiful icon, there was Vogue, there was NYC and everything in it pleased me. The only bad thing was, was that it had to end!!!

I think Karen Gillan did a great job however a friend disagrees. Did anyone else manage to see it tonight? Any thoughts?

So about a month ago at work, we were told about the new trend that had landed in store "90's Grunge". If there was ever a Topshop trend that i was bound to love this was my THING. I've been head over heels for this look ever since Ashley Olsen (idol) was caught wearing plaid.

So in case you have no idea what this trend involves, here's a few images to get you started and give you some inspiration.

So i'm starting my own business shortly selling great quality vintage and retro bags. I'll be handpicking every item individually and from all over the country and Europe. I aim to have authentic leather satchels, leather rucksacks, duffel bags, non-leather rucksacks, sport sacs, suitcases, vintage totes, and box bags all at reasonable prices.

After much thought i'll be naming it Audrey & George after Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard in my all time favourite movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. I'm so so excited about this project and can't wait for it to be up and running.

I'll also be collaborating with my best friend Rebecca Heard who will be selling super stylish vintage clothes under the named Wooden Willow. Together we're going to eventually have our own website, attend vintage fairs and also maybe in the not too distant future have a pop up shop or two. We are also going to run the world. The Argentinian director Lucrecia Martel apparently likes to make films about troubled minds and her past feature films have all been nominated and won awards in the international film circuit so she is obv very good at what she does.

Anyway this was premiered at a 40's style mansion party last tuesday night. Sweet.

When i was about 16 (rough guess) I used to hang round with these 2 guys from school that were widely known as stoners and we used to sit in one of their garages in his garden on camping chairs and listen to Metallica, Slipknot and mainly Nirvana. Those guys gave me a taste for Kurt Cobain and it wasn't long before i was reading books about his life, and putting his poster on my walls. I remember even someone buying me his journals for my birthday one year. ANYWAY, the point is i always thought to myself, that little baby that him and Courtney had would always grow up to be such a famous little girl and probably a mega babe. I was so right.

 I highly recommend them. They packaged my blazer up with such care, it was lovely and I received a quirky postcard which gave me a chance to get 25% off my next order by joining the mailing list.

I was so excited when it arrived, i decided it needed a night out, so i wore it with a black dress from Rare@Topshop and some black boots which i found from the cheapy chavvy shoe shop in Leeds Market and went to a new night called "HOLLER!" at the Loft.

So, while at work last saturday i was greeted with the horrifying (but not that unexpected) news that Amy Winehouse had died. Couldn't actually believe it, I kinda thought she'd be around for a bit longer.

I've always liked Amy, both musically and what i've seen of her personality. (Who could forget the WINEMOUSE video and that appearance on Never Mind the Buzzcocks). I've even loved some of the pieces that she designed for the Fred Perry capsule collection so it is, such a shame that she's gone too soon. A huge talent like hers will stick around forever though, whether she's here or not, she will always be remembered. RIP Amy xx

So it's july and yet i've never seen such a monsoon of rain. Instead of wanting to buy open toed sandals and more maxi skirts i'm now saving my payday shopping fund for chelsea boots and a waterproof. The big problem is, can a waterproof jacket with a hood ever be fashionable?

There is an AMAZING crochet one i want from Topshop (see above) but it has a hefty price tag of £55 and for what it is (plastic covered lace with no lining) I refuse to pay this amount. Although the rainier it gets the more i'm tempted. So i've been scouting around to see what my options are. The good thing is, most shops are all about the 'festival' look so there's a bit of choice. Did i mention that i HATE parka's so will definitely not be getting one of those type ones.

Today i'm wearing.... Navy cardigan from H&M (mens), black bralette, tan skirt and crucifix necklace all from Topshop.

All items aside from the cardigan were bought collectively for under £20 in the TS sale and i was so excited i wore them all out that very night to have some wine at nation of shopkeepers.

A few days later i then went and bought both pairs of these lovely shoes in the sale at Office.

I also found and bought these school girl type sandals after looking over my mum's shoulder who was shopping the NEXT sale at 8am. A steal at £20. My first ever purchase from NEXT, hope they're as nice in real life!

Moral of the story: You can find good things in the sale.. & NEXT sell semi-decent shoes.

Michael Pitt looks like Kurt Cobain.

In case you didn't know Michael Pitt is the guy that plays the guy in Boardwalk Empire that is supposed to be the main guy's (Steve Buscemi) protegee called Jimmy. Got it?

He's also been in loads of stuff before this but I don't think a lot of people followed.

ANYWAYZ i was flicking channels the other night and caught the end of a shitty horror he was in and thought, "Oh yeah he's in Boardwalk empire". After 5 mins of watching i kept thinking how much he reminded me of and looked like Kurt Cobain. After a quick search on IMDB, it turns out he played him in GVS's Last days. Shocker.

Long story short i was like wow, i'm going to watch this other film he's been in called "The Dreamers" directed by Bernardo Bertolucci. Amazing film.

The dreamers is about an american boy (Pitt) who becomes friends and moves in with a freaky French brother and sister duo who have some kind of crazy incestuous relations where they watch each other beat off and bang. Oh and they also sleep naked together and they're major film buffs like Pitt also. Set against the student riots of Paris in 1968, the three of them seclude themselves from reality and have sex a fair bit.

Movie gold.

So i've bought a few new rings from Topshop and off of ebay. I'm trying to get back into wearing silver so the 2 silver ones and my double crucifix have been making lots of appearances recently. However this ornate gold and multi stoned beauty, brings out my inner hindu hippy. Can't wait to teem it with some bright floaty dresses and sandals with my hair braided.

So i'm guessing that the majority of people saw Beyonce's Glastonbury set? No?

It was out of this world.

She was the first woman to headline in over 20 years and without getting all feminist and girl power she made me proud to be a woman. Blowing Coldplay and U2 out of the water, her performance was everything a show should be. One of my favourite parts about it was that you could really tell she loved doing it, loved being there and was so appreciative of her success.

Stylish Blogger Award

So Thank you to the lovely Joy at Alex Drake Vintage for awarding me with the prestigious Stylish blogger award :)

I've not really been putting my all into my blog recently and I feel really bad about it. I really enjoy doing it i can just never find the time anymore since moving back to Leeds and starting my new job. I'm making a promise to myself that every day off i have to post at least once. I need to get back in touch with fashion, feel like i know nothing about what's going on currently!

ANYWAY, thanks to Joy, I feel included in this lovely little fashion bloggers circle.

Part of receiving the award means having to share 7 facts about yourself, so here goes...

1. I have a strange looking birthmark on my back called a strawberry mark. When wearing backless tops people always thinks its a bruise or graze, and i have to explain. My dad used to say it's called a strawberry mark because in the summer when strawberries are in season it appears redder. (and I genuinely think it does!) It's a nice story and i like to believe it still. A little permanent strawberry on my back, ahh.

2. I'm not a natural ginger! Although people are always shocked when i tell them this. I just have a natural auburn hue as a result of dyeing.

3. My dad was a big Fleetwood Mac fan and as a result I was named after the song 'Rhiannon'. The song tells of a Welsh goddess with magical powers. I never really listened to the song until about 3 years ago, and once I did I really appreciated how good of a band Fleetwood Mac are. Stevie Nicks is one of my idols.

4. One of my favourite colours is black. I know it's dark and grungy and has the whole gothic vibe, but i really think black is brilliant. It doesn't have to be gothic at all, unless you're head to toe in it and have black lace and net (that's probs taking the goth vibe to another level). I will probably wear one item of clothing that is black everyday. AND I PROMISE I NEVER LOOK GOTHY. I hope.

5. One day I want to own a Chanel 2.55 bag. Chanel is my number 1 when it comes to fashion, and in a dream world i'd love to have everything Chanel, and be one of those classy older ladies with a tweed twinset and pearls. But alas, I will never be crazy rich and so for now I'd just like a bag. And maybe some pumps. ha.

6. My favourite drink is water. I'm not even joking. Everyday i always have my RDA, and it's out of choice. I've been the same since i was younger, and i genuinely think there is nothing more refreshing than a chilled glass of iced water.

7. I wish i read more books. Recently someone inspired me to get back into it and although they're now long gone, I really have taken the opportunity to take some time out of my day and sit down and read. I'm trying to make sundays my day when for a few hours, I don't go on my mac/phone/internet or watch any TV. I don't watch a lot of telly anyway but my computer is one my dearest possessions. (Pretty lame i know) and I'm probably on it for about 5 hours a day. ANYWAY, these few hours recently on sundays have been spent going for a bike ride or reading or cooking. Getting away from the world for a short time anyway. I think a lot of people rely too much on the internet and tv and I don't want to become one of them.

So there we go, 7 facts. Now you know a bit more about me. So, i guess the next step is passing this on to 7 other bloggers. hmmmm.

Sick cycle carousel

Sunday I went to Trof in Manchester for a little sunday roast with my best pals Leah and Hattie.

It was dead tasty and we even had cakes after. Naughty.

Later that night I won a bicycle on eBay. This one to be precise.

I am so excited to go and pick it up on sunday and it got me to thinking about how I will never walk anywhere again. This bike will be my new best friend. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is fashion. How does one wear a maxi skirt and cycle to work? They don't... Oh dear.

Last night I watched Gummo by Harmony Korine (Kids) for the first time. I'm not going to lie, it is so so so weird and half the time I didn't know what was going on, but i think i enjoyed it.

It's set in the 90's (and was made in 1997), every male has a mullet and every character has crazy amazing clothes. I enjoyed how there are so many different stories going on, and each one is framed in a different way, kind of like photographs that come to life? Don't know if that makes sense to readers, but it does to me and maybe if you've watched it you're thinking 'Oh yeah i get what she means'.

Highlight of the film is Chloe Sevigny, who is actually credited as costume designer. Amazing.

The last 2 weeks have absolutely flown by and I can't even believe i haven't posted in forever.

The truth is, the sun has been out so every time i've not been working i've been meeting friends and going out and having a little tipple.

I bought 50% of my payday wish items so I'll do a today i'm wearing post tomorrow.

Payday where are you??

It feels like this month has been the longest ever but in 3 days I will have my first pay check since Feb. I'm so so excited.

I've been pretty geeky and making lists in my notebook about "what i'm going to buy on pay day".

It will only be two and a half weeks pay so I have to be quite thrifty and so have only allowed myself to spend £150 on new things.

A right good Easter weekend

When i think of Easter and spring in general, I think of pale yellow chicks, candy coloured eggs and all things floral and pretty. Pretty much anything and everything to do with Easter are pastel coloured. Lovely duckegg blue, baby blue, pale pink, lavender, mint green. DREAMY.

Yes it can be said, that I love pastels and thus thinking of them has got me thinking to Queen of the dreamy pastels Sofia Coppola, and in particular Marie Antoinette.

One of my top 10 favourite films, I felt the need to give this another watch (probably my 57th) and sit and take in all the lovely imagery. Ahhh.

Did i Mention there's a really good soundtrack too??

Meet the Kooples, a French brand that's now got stores in London, Manchester & Birmingham.

"It is a young label in more ways than one. A massive hit across the Channel with snake-hipped rock 'n' roll types, and their groovy girl/boyfriends/civil partners/whatever, it has been going all of two years. Not that you'd necessarily know it, going by its confident swagger and the sheer number of branches and concessions in Paris and other French cities these days." (Davies, G.W 2010)

What I love about this brand is the marketing campaign. (I always love a non typical campaign) The ad's feature real life super cool super stylish and super attractive couples giving you their relationship history. Normally i don't really care about how people met and couples cooing at each other makes me want to vomit. But I'm fascinated and intrigued to find out how the two beautiful creatures actually bumped worlds. Weird.

The video's are available on the website and are probably worth 5 mins of your time if you don't have a soppiness and shmultz gag reflex. Give it a crack.

Wasn't too keen on Amy Jade's first collection for iconic mod brand Fred Perry, but this second one has blown me away. Really really considering saving to buy the Hawaiian halter-neck dress below. British fashion in Beijing

So on my day off today I tuned in at 1.30pm to see the Burberry's live stream from Beijing in celebration of the new concept store. It promised to be a marriage of fashion and music and a visual treat for my peepers. It did not let down.

There were holograms, 3d catwalks, screens everywhere you looked, all projecting a very british view of Burberry to the soundtrack of "24 hours from Tulsa", "Bang bang", "You don't have to say you love me", "You don't own me" and my personal favourite Adele's "Someone like you". The London skyline featured heavily both pre and during the show, focusing heavily on Big Ben and the London eye. Ending the show was Keane performing what seemed like their greatest hits, and for me personally, this was where an innovative celebration of British culture fell short. All in all, it was a very modern idea and Burberry have been at the forefront of incorporating the newest modern technology into their brand. (Lest not forget this year, we could pre-order clothes from the worldwide streamed autumn winter 2011 show, minutes after it was broadcast.) They showed that once again, they are the pioneers of British fashion and a much loved brand worldwide.

New life take 2

So, lack of posts recently sorry!

It was all a bit of a mad rush as I found out sunday that i've been offered a job back in my old city of LEEDS. It's concession manager at Topshop on Briggate (the big Topshop)

I am very excited as it's the most responsibility, most hours and most amount of money i've ever had. But it meant that I had to throw as much as i could into a case and get onto the next train t'up norf!

I am now staying at my friend Bec's house for this week but hopefully moving into my own place by the weekend. This means all week (when i'm not working), every waking second is spent viewing houses. It's got me thinking about decorating my room again. I'm thinking an eclectic mix of vintage / Cath Kidston/ Laura Ashley. I'm also loving the Ella doran collection for Habitat so once payday comes i may be furnishing. Unfortunately a lot of my furniture and pictures and things are still in Wales so for now it's going to be a bit bare. Heading down to the charity shops this afternoon for coat hangers and a tea strainer and maybe some 50p homely gems.

So to celebrate 100 years of being around and the pump of choice, Superga have roped in the amazing Alexa Chung as the "new face of this super styled, super elegant, super cool shoe."

I've never heard of this brand before, maybe because i'm British or something like that. It may be the amazingly cute video, good choice of song, or even Alexa herself, but all of a sudden i have a HUGE desire to get some of these in as many pastel colours as I can for the summer. In my head i'm seeing Sofia Coppola colours in my outfits. Dreamy.

The best vintage shop in Cardiff - A Vintage Affair

Situated in the Morgan arcade in Cardiff city centre, this gem has so many little trinkets and fabulous finds under one roof, I always spend ages rummaging away the afternoon. Downstairs it sells all kinds of jewellery, bags, hats, crockery, and nit bits all from various different era's. Then upstairs you have the retro mens and ladies fashion. The best part is that it isn't unreasonably priced. So many vintage shops today, and especially little quirky boutiquey ones feel the need to charge extortionate prices. A vintage affair knows it's customer and has priced everything accordingly. Me likey.

I loved it so much, I bought these tights and this delectable ring.

Amazing final photo shoot photo's from season 16 episode 3 of America's next top model. Totally addicted to this show, even though it's terrible. The dream team that made these lovely pictures included Pamela Hanson behind the camera and legendary stylist Lori Goldstein styling. I genuinely think they're some of the best photo's ANTM has ever produced.

I hope Brittani, Jacyln and Hannah are in the final!

Kate Prior - Leeds based illustrator

When I was younger I used to head into Manchester with my friends and generally just hang about for the day. I'd find myself bringing back leaflets and flyers from shops i'd been into. Most of these flyers were well designed and illustrated, flyers that were actually nice to look at and so I would stick them up in my bedroom at home. I had so many my entire wall was covered, and so my appreciation for design and illustration began.

Fast forward 10 years (maybe a little less) and i'm at uni in Leeds, and my flyer collecting days had more or less stopped. I found myself noticing these drawings that began appearing on Nation of shopkeepers promo materials. It's safe to say i collected a fair few of these flyers before I moved back home and it's only recently that I discovered that the artist was actually in my year at Leeds college of art.

Her name is Kate Prior and she studied Visual communication. She is very very good at what she does and it's great to know that there are some people that went to my uni that are already pursuing exciting things and staying creative.

Lauren "LC" Conrad has launched her first clothing line entitled 'Paper Crown'.

What I like about this line is that Lauren has actually done a fashion degree at FIDM. It's not your typical celebrity fashion line, this line has actually been fully designed by L.C herself, and i think you can tell. They're very sophisticated designs and very much like clothes that Lauren would actually wear. I think the look book is very nicely put together also. I look forward to seeing more.
